The lane is regaining its strength though there are still a lot of brown leaves lying on the lane itself like an early autumn. Cow parsley has now created a skeletal framework of branches and stems along the side of the road.
Enchanter’s nightshade or Herbe à la Magicienne in French, is now flowering further down the lane. Its delicate flowers almost something that can be overlooked unless one looks carefully. Everlasting pea is twining through the hedging and the elder blossom now gone has been replaced with berries – green for now – but deep purple soon.. Things are changing. The spindle tree flowers are changing into green on their way to becoming pink fruit and the vetch are producing magnificent seed pods but it all seems early.
