Yellow is the colour
All around now there are tantalising glimpses of Spring. Flowers are now coming up through the grass. Primroses, lesser celandine, coltsfoot and daisy. Yellow being the predominate colour.
Everything from the primrose’s delicate pale yellow to the rich, golden of the coltsfoot and celandine.
Delicate thorn buds are beginning to green the trees and further up the lane a red squirrel – iora rua in Irish – ran up an ivy covered ash tree ahead of us, becoming almost invisible in the highest branches. Moss and lichen are everywhere and in the damp climate here trees – upright, fallen or broken into stumps are quickly covered giving a ghostly feel.
