Today was so different. Damp, light rain but not enough to be a ‘wetting’ rain. Standing at the top of the hill and looking across the fields to the lough still shrouded in mist I could breathe in the freshness – and like Rosie the dog, look out for red squirrels – which did not appear today.
The colours of Autumn are endlessly fascinating. Their colour combinations are not the colours I would think to use in a design but in Nature, they are perfect. And today, there was the ivy!
The colour of the developing berries a wonderful russet red I hadn’t seen before. The russet of the bracken seen through the hedging is like looking through to a different world, a memory of colour and warmth that will soon disappear in the monochrome of winter.
