Early yesterday the frost was so hard that it looked as though we had had our first snow shower of the season. Two robins, bright scarlet breasts, fought for territory in the cold while leaves coated in a white lace, lined the lane. The snowberries, otherwise known as corpse berries gave an eerie feel to the lane. The berries are strangely luminous and they do light up the way.
But then the sun soon took the frost, only leaving patches in the cooler, shaded areas, strangely disappointing. I like this altered world.
